During Riga festival public transport, night buses and municipal parking-lots will be free of charge
This year Riga residents and guests will be offered a wide programme of festive events, therefore the traffic of public transport will be adjusted to the location of these events: there will larger vehicles and additional runs on some routes in accordance with the passenger flow.
On August 16 and 17, due to festive events on Lucavsala Island, there will be bigger trolleybuses on route No. 19. On August 16, starting from 8:00, and on August 17 buses No. 42 and 43 will not stop at public transport stop „Lucavsala” on the way to Ziepniekkalns.
In the night of August 17/18, due to festive events, public transport on some routes will run until 24:00, but in the night of August 18/19 public transport on some rotes will run until 01:00. There will be additional public transport on routes with maximum passenger flow: on bus routes No. 3, 11, 12/23/26 (combined), 18, 24, 25, 37, 40, 50, 51 and 53, on trolleybus routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27, and on tram routes No. 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11.
On August 17 due to festive events in „Spilve” airport special bus route Daugavgrīvas Street – Spilve airport will be organised from 10:00 till 20:00.
On August 18, due to festive events on the Big Scene of Mežaparks and in Riga Zoo, trams on route No. 11 will run from 10:00 till 19:30 with shorter intervals of 6 – 7 minutes.
Night buses will run in the night of August 16/17, starting from 24:00, and in the night of August 17/18, starting from 1:00, because until that time additional runs of public transport (buses, trolleybuses and trams) will be provided. Night buses will be also free of charge. Rīgas satiksme reminds that night buses run on 9 routes in the nights of Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday. Night bus routes have been designed so as to cover a majority of Riga districts with bigger number of residents. The terminal of the night buses is at public transport stop Railway Terminal Square/Central Railway Terminal.
